A Little bit about myself:
My name is Frances Latalladi and I am a Journalism and Mass Communications major at Lehman College in The Bronx. I was born and raised in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx and am the youngest of three children. Raised in a Puerto Rican household we were very religious, cultural and traditional. I loved music since I could remember and loved listening and introducing the songs before my mother played them on the record player. I took dance lessons and was very involved in anything that had to do with music or planning a party growing up as a teenager. Radio has always been an interest of mine since I was a child. I remember in the 1980’s when the yellow sports Sony Walkman was released you were able play cassette and listen to radio.
I begged my parents to buy me one, but I got a strawberry shortcake radio one instead. My love for radio began now I put those headphones on. Listening to the different music stations, the connection between the vj’s and the combination of the delivery intrigued me. As I got older I began to do club promotions which led to building relationships with different people in the entertainment industry starting with radio dj’s.
I’m currently a Senior and will proudly be part of the graduating class of 2018. Aside from aspiring to obtain my degree in communications, I’ve gained experience in the entertainment industry via promotions, marketing and radio. I've hosted several events in some of New York's most popular nightclubs and have worked with some of New York's most prestigious radio Dj’s. My radio experience comes from online radio with Urban Latino Radio and A List Radio.
Networking at different events and promoting parties for various radio stations led me to the opportunity of doing small cameos on online radio shows which were starting to become popular in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I couldn't believe how alive I felt and how much I truly enjoyed being on the radio. It inspired me to readmit back to school and pursue my degree in Mass Communications and Multimedia. I aspire to obtain my degree in May of 2018 and begin my career as a radio personality.
